The Longbottom Family Tree revealed by pottermore.

Augusta Longbottom

Augusta Longbottom is a powerful witch who brought up Neville Longbottom after her son, Frank, was tortured to insanity along with his wife Alice. She is known as a formidable woman, who wore a stuffed vulture hat and a long green dress. She was described as moving with ‘surprising speed’ and helped her grandson during the Battle of Hogwarts. Augusta is known to be a little stubborn about things, particularly her grandson’s education. As a student, she failed her Charms O.W.L., and subsequently put Neville off trying to study it.

Neville’s grandad

Not much is known about Neville Longbottom’s grandad, but we know Neville saw him die, presumably at a young age. It was Augusta, Neville’s grandmother, who ended up bringing up Neville alone.

Alice Longbottom

Alice Longbottom was an Auror and a member of the Order of the Phoenix during the first wizarding war. Like her husband, Frank, Alice was tortured to insanity, and resided at St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. We know she bore a striking resemblance to Neville, sharing his round face. At St Mungo’s, she notably showed glimmers of mothering nature, by giving her son Neville empty sweet wrappers.

Frank Longbottom

Frank Longbottom was a brave Auror, who was tragically tortured to insanity by Death Eaters, including Bellatrix Lestrange and Barty Crouch Jr. Before this attack, Frank was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, alongside his wife. The Longbottoms were, apparently, ‘very popular’ according to Dumbledore. Their son, Neville, would eventually destroy one of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes, and contribute to his demise.

Great-auntie Enid

Great-auntie Enid witnessed one of Neville’s first magical moments, when his great-uncle Algie hung him out of a window to ‘force some magic’ out of him. Unfortunately, Enid chose this moment to offer some meringue to the easily distracted Algie, who promptly let Neville go. Thankfully, Neville did possess magical powers, and simply bounced down the garden unscathed.

Great-uncle Algie

We have never had the pleasure of meeting Great Uncle Algie, but from the stories Neville tells about him, he sounds like an interesting person. For example, he once pushed poor Neville off Blackpool Pier as a child to see if he had any magical abilities. He’s not all bad, though. He is the family member that bought Neville Trevor the toad after all, and he even picked up the Herbology-loving Neville a rare Mimbulus mimbletonia plant. Shame the aforementioned plant exploded all over Neville’s classmates.

Neville Longbottom

Neville was brought up by his formidable grandmother, Augusta, after his parents were tragically tortured to insanity. It took a long time for Neville to showcase magical ability, but once he did, he went from a clumsy Hogwarts student to a brave and valiant wizard over his seven years at the school. With an aptitude for Herbology, Neville would eventually go on to succeed Professor Sprout, and work at Hogwarts as Herbology professor.

Hannah Abbott

Hannah Abbott was a Hufflepuff girl in Neville’s year. She joined Dumbledore’s Army, a wizarding resistance group set up by Harry, Ron and Hermione in her fifth year, alongside Neville. In her later years, we know that Hannah and Neville got together, eventually marrying. Hannah became the landlady of the Leaky Cauldron, and lived with Neville upstairs.

  1. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She
placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside
and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had
    to tell someone!
