As if the festive period needed any more magic, this year will see a healthy dose of Harry Potter sparkle added to the experience.
With Weasley Christmas jumpers, crackling common room fires and Hogwarts dunked in snow just some staple winter scenes, the world of Harry and co. has always had strong game when it comes to the festive aesthetic. Now, some mastermind in Harry HQ has come up with a fabulous Harry Potter holiday experience – ‘Christmas in the Wizarding World’. It’s only July, sure, but frankly this news couldn’t come soon enough.
Cooked up by Warner Bros Consumer Products (WBCP) and GES (the guys behind travelling show Harry Potter: The Exhibition), Christmas in the Wizarding World is being described as a muggle’s chance to experience all the fun of Christmas shopping from a witch or wizard’s perspective.
Okay, yes, it is basically one big commercial stunt, but with the opportunity to find your wand at Ollivander’s, pick up some Hogwarts merch and stroll through a thoroughly idyllic festive scene, it’s bound to make the frenzy of holiday shopping a little more enjoyable this time around.
According to Digital Spy, we can expect ‘an interactive, immersive retail experience designed to evoke the setting and atmosphere of a wintry Hogsmeade village and Diagon Alley during the festive season.’
Eddie Newquist, GES Chief Creative Officer, describes it as: ‘a new way for fans to experience the world of Harry Potter, this time in a holiday setting.’
‘This one-of-a-kind experience is sure to be a hit with families and friends who are looking for a magical experience this holiday season.’
It’s set for rollout across the US, and fingers crossed we’ll see it in the UK too.
