While attending Sunday’s Golden Globes awards, where he was a nominee, actor Jude Law revealed that he was given all of Dumbledore’s history and future in the Fantastic Beasts series straight from J.K. Rowling herself. Law would not reveal much else, especially when asked about going up against on-screen adversary Grindelwald (portrayed by Johnny Depp).
Jude Law: “Do you know what I did? I sat in a room for an afternoon with J.K. Rowling, and I listened to her extraordinary words of wisdom. She was kind enough to share with me the whole backstory and her future hopes for this young character of Dumbledore and really that set me on the path. I just did what the writer said.”
During the 75th annual Golden Globe awards, Harry Potter actor Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) won Best Actor, Drama Film for his work in Darkest Hour, while Deathly Hallows’ composer Alexandre Desplat was awarded for his work on the original score of The Shape of Water. Both acceptance speeches, along with Emma Watson and Robert Pattinson, who presented in Los Angeles, can be watched below.
